CORE PRINCIPLES OF MEN'S STYLE

If you’re trying to do something well, you rarely have to be an expert to achieve great results. Instead of trying to learn a million little tips, tricks, and hacks, you just need to master a few core principles to achieve success.

While teaching style concepts to clients, I generally try to adhere to Pareto’s 80/20 principle. If you’re unfamiliar, the Pareto principle specifies that 80% of consequences come from 20% of the causes. I try to show guys what works best for them and instill core principles that last a lifetime - the 20% that matters.

Most guys are looking for hacks, tips, and tricks. Search Youtube for style advice and you’ll see many influencer types shoveling out shallow content that capitalizes on a guy's need for "now."

The guys who watch this stuff end up having a handful of tips and tricks up their sleeve, like knowing seven different ways to cuff their jeans, without ever knowing what colors look best on them. All they understand is shallow-level stuff and they wonder why they consume hours of Youtube and still don’t look good.

In learning anything, it works best if you understand the core principles of the discipline. Here, at the Pivot Conservatory of Style Arts and Sciences, the 20 that gets you 80 is this:

Fit, Color, Personal Style. If you can master this, you will always understand how to dress, regardless of what’s in season or what's trending.

You can learn these three yourself here in this article, or you can shortcut with the Virtual Consultation Package, working with me 1-on-1.

Remember, in most anything, timeless principles win.
